Families, seniors, couples, teens and individuals gathered on Sunday, December 3 at Holy Spirit Church in Winfield to make fleece blankets for area cancer patients.
Parishioners and member of the community donated the fleece to make the blankets. More than 45 blankets were made at the event for Hope Center. Many others, who were unable to attend the event, dropped off fleece donations. Families took home the donated fleece and made additional blankets. Hope Center volunteers picked up 20 blankets from the church weeks after the event. When meeting with a Hope Center friend for the first time, volunteers present a Hope Tote filled with items that will bring comfort to patients who are undergoing long treatments in infusion rooms or hospital stays. A handmade fleece blanket is included in each Hope Tote.
“We had such an amazing response from the parishioners of Holy Spirit Church and the Winfield community,” said Hope Center Founder and Survivor, Kerri Midkiff. “Every table in the hall was occupied by blanket-makers.”
